WABCO Announces Supply Agreement for New Generation of Trailer Air Disc Brakes

WABCO Holdings Inc. WBC today announced that it has entered into a long term agreement with one of Europe's largest manufacturers of commercial trailers to supply WABCO's new generation of air disc brakes for trailer axles, starting with series production in 2013. Through pioneering engineering, WABCO's new generation of 22" trailer brakes combines single-piston technology with an innovative compact design and covers trailer axle applications up to 10 tons. It delivers high performance braking but weighs only 70 pounds (32 kilograms) including brake pads, and thus it is one of the lightest trailer air disc brakes of its kind. As a result, trailers can increase payload and improve fuel economy while also reducing maintenance and service costs due to thicker brake pads.
