Kinetic Concepts Said to Be in Talks With Two Private-Equity Firms; Valued at ~$5B

According to this Bloomberg article, Kinetic Concepts is in discussions with a least two private-equity firms to go private in a leveraged buyout. The market value of the company after yesterday's close was $4.3 billion, in which the private-equity firms value Kinetic at $5 billion. Shares spiked which caused the company to be halted by the SEC for triggering a circuit-breaker. After shares resumed trading, the stock moved as high as 15% to nearly $67.50. Currently shares of Kinetic Concepts are trading over 10% higher at $64.95. Kinetic Concepts KCI is a medical technology company, engages in the discovery, development, manufacture, marketing, rental, and sale of therapies and products for the advanced wound care, regenerative medicine, and therapeutic support system markets in the United States and internationally. It operates in three segments: Active Healing Solutions, LifeCell, and Therapeutic Support Systems.
