Disney's Iger Offers Color On Hulu Sale

Walt Disney DIS CEO Bob Iger told reporters at Allen & Co.'s Sun Valley media conference that the owners of Hulu are "committed to selling" the company. This comes on the heels of Hulu's board exploring sale options over the last few weeks. Reports indicate that Hulu is in talks with 8 to 10 potential buyers, including Google GOOG, Microsoft MSFT, and Yahoo YHOO among others. The talks are believed to be in the early stages. Hulu hired bankers to explore strategic alternatives after Yahoo made an offer to buy the company. The sale is important because Hulu has exclusive rights to a range of current TV shows, which gives it appeal to a very broad range of potential suitors. Hulu is owned by Disney (DIS) Comcast's CMCSA NBC Universal, News Corp. NWSA and Providence Equity Partners. The company's employees also control a small stake.
