The Wet Seal, Inc. Announces June Comparable Store Sales Increased 7.3%

The Wet Seal, Inc. WTSLA reported net sales and comparable store sales for the five-week period ended July 2, 2011. Susan McGalla, chief executive officer of The Wet Seal, Inc., commented: “We are pleased to have continued to deliver positive comparable store sales results in every fiscal month this year, and in seven of the past eight months overall. We are encouraged by these consistent results as we near the important back-to-school selling season.” For the fiscal month, the Company's e-commerce sales declined 17%. E-commerce sales are not a component of the Company's comparable store sales results. Ms. McGalla commented, “We are focused on strategies to drive a higher penetration of full-price selling online and better align merchandising in this channel with our stores. This may continue to put pressure on our e-commerce sales in the near term.”
