Fred's June Comparable Store Sales -0.7%

Fred's, Inc. FRED today reported sales for the five-week fiscal month of June, which ended July 2, 2011. Fred's total sales for the month increased slightly to $179.0 million from $178.9 million in June 2010. Comparable store sales for the month decreased 0.7% compared with an increase of 1.7% in the same period last year. Fred's total sales for the first five months of fiscal 2011 increased 2% to $807.0 million compared with $792.1 million for the same period last year. On a comparable store basis, year-to-date sales increased 0.6% on top of an increase of 2.3% in the same period last year.
