Forget Drugs, iPad 2s are More Fun to Smuggle

Who knew zip-lines could be so useful? While Apple's AAPL upcoming tablet may steal the show, that hasn't stopped consumers from eating up the aging iPad 2. That hasn't stopped smugglers from eating it up either. MicGadget reports (via Business Insider) that smugglers in Hong Kong have been caught zip-lining iPads into Shenzhen, a neighboring city. By using this simple technique, the smugglers have been able to send the iPads over a river that runs between the two cities. The smuggling from Hong Kong and Shenzhen's taxation laws (it is cheaper to sell iPads in Shenzhen, apparently). When Chinese customs officers busted the smugglers late last week, they grabbed 50 iPad 2s and 50 iPhone 4s. Follow me @LouisBedigian
