Boeing Statement on Compliance with WTO Ruling on Subsidies to Airbus

Boeing BA issued the following statement regarding EU compliance obligations stemming from the ruling last June by the World Trade Organization against $18 billion of illegal European government subsidies to Airbus: Today marks the deadline for European governments and EADS/Airbus to comply with the WTO's landmark ruling against launch aid and other forms of illegal government subsidies that Airbus has been receiving for more than 40 years. EU officials earlier today publicly acknowledged their compliance obligation. In the days ahead Boeing will work with the U.S. Trade Representative to ensure that all of the illegal subsidies have indeed been removed and that full compliance has been achieved. We expect Airbus and its government sponsors to demonstrate that the practice of market-distorting launch aid – the most pernicious form of subsidy Airbus was found to have received – has ended.
