The company also lifted its buyback plan to $90 billion from $60 billion. Apple's quarterly profit surged to $10.2 billion, or $11.62 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $9.5 billion, or $10.09 per share. Its revenue also climbed to $45.6 billion versus $43.6 billion.
TriQuint Semiconductor TQNT shares jumped 7.61% to $14.29 after the company reported Q1 results. Northland Securities upgraded the stock from Market Perform to Outperform and lifted the price target from $9.00 to $17.50.

General Motors Company GM surged 2.50% to $35.25 after the company reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings.
Facebook FB surged 2.24% to $62.74 after the company reported a strong rise in its first-quarter profit. Its quarterly profit surged to $642 million, $0.25 per share, compared to a year-earlier profit of $219 million, or $0.09 per share. Excluding certain items, the company earned $0.34 per share, beating analysts' estimates of $0.24 per share.
