Tableau Software Inc DATA fell as low as 2.6 percent Tuesday on news that Alphabet Inc GOOGL’s rival tool, Data Studio, debuted in more than 180 countries.
The data analytics and visualization product had only been accessible in the U.S. until last fall, when it expanded into 21 other countries.
Data Studio was announced in March as a function of the Google Analytics Suite 360. It integrates information from Google Sheets, AdWords, YouTube, BigQuery and other products into interactive, customized reports. With both free and paid versions, the technology caters to businesses and individuals working on comprehensive and collaborative projects.
VentureBeat said the market extension will likely pull consumers away from the rival offerings of Tableau and Microsoft Corporation MSFT.
Tableau shares were trading down 1.59 percent Tuesday at $50.21, while Microsoft was relatively unaffected.
