In honor of Wednesday's underappreciated National Potato Day holiday, the internet's No. 1 authority on holidays National Today surveyed 1,000 people to identify the most loved potato dishes.
Top Choice: French Fries: As one would expect, the top loved potato dish is the classic French Fry with McDonald's Corp's MCD reigning supreme, according to National Today. Nearly one-in-four people surveyed said the often overlooked curly fry is their preferred french fry of choice.
Nearly half of the people surveyed said PepsiCo, Inc.'s PEP Frito-Lay chips is their preferred brand of choice.
Potato Fun Facts: The humble spud reached peak Hollywood popularity in 2002 when Sam explained to Gollum all the ways it can be eaten: "Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew. Lovely big golden chips with a nice piece of fried fish.
Most Memorable Potato I Ever Had: The most memorable potato I ever had was at a Costco Wholesale Corporation COST store in Liverpool, England. Sure, I could have opted for classic Costco food options hot dog or a slice of pizza, but when in England, do as the English do -- eat a jacket potato.
I opted for a filling of beans in my potato. The potato itself was quite ordinary and I don't remember what it tasted like. But how many people in North America had the unique privilege and experience to say they ate a baked potato at a Costco?
