Xpeng Inc – ADR XPEV, which is positioning itself as the technology leader among China's electric vehicle manufacturers, announced that it has commenced small-scale public beta testing of over-the-air upgrades for its P7 models.
What Happened: This marks the first time Xpeng's XPILOT 3.0 autopilot assistance system — Navigation Guided Pilot — is available to users, the company said in a release.
The over-the-air upgrade will bring comprehensively improved active safety functions for P7 Zhizun and Zhixiang version users, and also render the P7 model as one of the smartest mass-produced models in the domestic market, XPeng said.

XPeng is looking to obtain optimization suggestions and opinions based on daily scenes and actual car needs from users.
"Users will also work with Xiaopeng Motors to create smart technology upgrades and optimizations, perfecting the brand-new experience brought by smart cars," the company said.
New In-Car Navigation System Unveiled: In a separate release, Xpeng said it plans to deploy Amap's third generation in-car navigation system in its P7 sedan.
This would make the P7 the first mass-produced vehicle to use a "Surrounding Reality" display for navigation-assisted autonomous driving.
Amap is China's leading mapping, navigation and location-based services provider. Its third-generation in-car navigation system leverages artificial intelligence, visual technology and high-precision maps to provide highly accurate lane-level navigation, delivering co-guidance for both the vehicle and driver, Xpeng said.
The company said it has integrated Amap's navigation information with its NGP function.
XPEV Price Action: XPeng shares were up 4.95% at $57 at last check Friday.
