Elon Musk, the owner and CEO of Twitter, is reportedly mulling the idea of putting the entire social media platform behind a paywall.
What Happened: Musk and Silicon Valley veteran David Sacks have discussed charging most or all users a subscription fee to use Twitter, reported Platformer, citing a person familiar with the matter.

There is also a possibility that everyone may use Twitter for a limited amount of time each month but will need to pay a subscription fee to continue browsing, stated the report.
It is yet to be determined if Musk and Sacks are really serious about the paywall. It also doesn't appear imminent, considering the Blue team is occupied with the launch of a new verification approach, the report added.
Twitter did not immediately respond to Benzinga's request for comments.
Why It's Important: Musk has been fairly busy since taking over Twitter. His journey so far has been filled with mass layoffs across the globe, a lawsuit against the company for eliminating employees without giving them adequate notice, and Twitter Blue plus $8 subscription fiasco saga.
All these steps could have been a preparation drill for the most significant change of all — Twitter behind a paywall — the report noted.
