Apple Inc. AAPL will reportedly start producing its highly-anticipated mixed-reality headset as soon as March 2023.
What Happened: In May, the Tim Cook-led company had given its board a sneak peek of the AR/VR headset. Now, there is finally an update. Apple could officially unveil its MR headset in April next year as the device might enter production in the first quarter of 2023, according to Appleinsider, citing a report from DigiTimes.

The first batch is expected to be limited with a ballpark figure of 0.7 million units for the year. The report added that Pegatron could be the exclusive partner for the final assembly.
The estimated production date aligns with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's predictions. He had stated that Apple could introduce the device between January and the second quarter of 2023.
Why It's Important: In October, Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc. META unveiled its VR headset, Quest Pro — earlier dubbed "Project Cambria" — at $1500. Quest Pro is the first Meta headset with inward-facing sensors, which can capture natural facial expressions and track eye movements.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also hinted that he sees Apple as his company's competitor in the metaverse or virtual and augmented reality.
