Trump Says DeSantis 'Playing Games' Over 2024 Presidential Race: 'Average Republican Governor With Great Public Relations'

Former President Donald Trump has let out a tirade of social media posts against a possible contender for the 2024 presidential elections —  Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

What Happened: Trump attacked the fellow Republican calling him "Ron DeSanctimonious" once again on Truth Social.

The former U.S. leader said DeSantis was an "average Republican Governor with great public relations."

"Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers," said Trump.

Trump said that DeSantis had "low approval, bad polls, and no money" but he decided to endorse the governor because he didn't know Putnam.

The former president said he "fixed" DeSantis' campaign which had "completely fallen apart."

Why It Matters: Trump appeared to take exception to DeSantis' not revealing his cards on whether he would run for the presidency in 2024.

"Now, Ron DeSanctimonious is playing games! The Fake News asks him if he's going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, ‘I'm only focused on the Governor's race, I'm not looking into the future.' Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that's really not the right answer…"

This week, after DeSantis got re-elected as Florida governor, Trump warned him against running for president and said he "could hurt himself very badly."
