  • Domino's Pizza Inc DPZ plans to deploy electric vehicles at some of its U.S. stores to overcome a worker shortage affecting deliveries.
  • The pizza chain will induct more than 100 custom-branded 2023 Chevy Bolt electric vehicles. Chevrolet is owned by General Motors Co GM.
  • It is also planning to expand the fleet with additional 700 vehicles in the coming months.
  • The EVs will provide zero tailpipe emissions, advanced safety features and lower average maintenance costs than non-electric vehicles.
  • "Domino's launched pizza delivery in 1960 with a Volkswagen Beetle, rolled out the DXP – a custom-built pizza delivery vehicle – in 2015, tested autonomous pizza delivery with cars and robots, and is now leading the charge in the future of pizza delivery," said CEO Russell Weiner.
  • "We've made a commitment to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and this is one way we can begin reducing our environmental impact, one delivery at a time."
  • Price Action: DPZ shares are trading higher by 0.57% at $380.00 in premarket on the last check Tuesday.
