Almost a fortnight after apologizing for Twitter being "super slow" in many countries, Elon Musk said the platform has reduced core services latency.
What Happened: On Wednesday, Musk took to Twitter and said the microblogging site "should feel noticeably faster."
Twitter core services latency reduced by ~400ms. Should feel noticeably faster.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 30, 2022
Why It's Important: Previously, Musk blamed "poorly batched" remote procedure calls, or RPCs, for the slow performance of Twitter.
His assessment was deemed incorrect by a (then) Twitter employee who said he worked on the Android team at the platform for about six years and disagreed with Musk's statement. The employee in question was fired within 24 hours.
Musk's journey as Twitter chief has been filled with several chaotic moments, including the on-again, off-again launch of the "official" badge, the Twitter Blue drama, the layoff spree, employees' mass exodus and advertisers pulling out over concerns around "hate speech."
The Twitter CEO is currently at loggerheads with Apple, accusing the tech giant of censoring its users and opposing free speech.
