Elon Musk Declares Don't Punish Farmers Amid Climate Change Action

Zinger Key Points
  • Musk says Tesla can help achieve the goal of bringing the global economy to a 100% clean and renewable energy.
  • Belgium farmers are protesting related to a plan within the Flemish government.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk once said that "climate change is the biggest threat that humanity faces this century."

Earlier this month, Musk unveiled the third part of his Master Plan, which outlines how Tesla can help achieve the goal of evolving the global economy to a run on 100% clean and renewable sustainable energy by 2050.

He said the "earth can and will move to a sustainable energy economy, and will do so in your lifetime."

Keeping up the momentum of his focus on the energy economy and environmental requirements, Musk responded to the farmers' protest in Belgium in a tweet.

A Twitter user tweeted a short video of the farmer protest.

Musk responded to the tweet, saying, "we don't need to put farmers out of work to solve climate change."

One of Musk's followers responded to his tweet and said that farmers know the land better than anyone else.

However, contrary to Musk's concern, Belgium farmers are protesting over a plan proposed by the Flemish government and not rejecting the climate efforts.

According to a report by the Street, the Flemish government is planning to reduce nitrogen emissions and threatening to close the most polluting farms.

Local media has reported that the government's initial plan was to close 41 intensive farms near protected areas and ask thousands of other farmers to reduce their nitrogen emissions, the outlet reported.
