Biden Rejects Trump's Air Force One Color Scheme, Ordering These Hues Instead

Zinger Key Points
  • The new Air Force will include a medical facility, a self-defense system, a mission communication system.
  • Former President Donald Trump had chosen darker red, white, and blue for the plane.

Air Force One is getting a new color scheme. President Joe Biden has selected a white, light blue, and yellow scheme for the presidential plane.

Former President Donald Trump had previously chosen darker red, white, and blue for the plane.

The Air Force has said that the current “robin’s egg” blue will be slightly “deeper,” the engines will be a darker blue, and the belly will not be polished metal because the jet’s alloy does not allow that, reports Reuters.

Biden’s suggested color scheme scraps the design Trump wanted for Air Force One, which featured a deep red stripe down the middle of the aircraft and a dark blue underbelly.

Trump’s suggested color scheme was rejected last year. The Air Force said it would require additional engineering, increasing the time it would take to build and the cost of the aircraft.

According to the report, the new Air Force One will include a medical facility, a self-defense system, a mission communication system, and an executive interior.

It will also have “the equivalent level of communications capability and security available in the White House.”

Last year, the Air Force said Boeing Co BA was set to deliver a pair of Air Force Ones in 2026 and 2027. On Friday, the projected delivery timeline for the two aircraft was updated to 2027 and 2028.

The Boeing 747-8s are designed to be an airborne White House able to fly in worst-case security scenarios, such as a nuclear war, and are modified with military avionics.
