Former Trump Lawyer's Claims In Stormy Daniels Case Could Be Challenged By Witness

Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen’s claims before a grand jury could be challenged by a witness that has been called by the former president’s lawyers.

What Happened: Robert Costello, a lawyer, has been asked to appear before the grand jury which is in the process of deciding whether to charge Trump over hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels, reported Reuters.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has asked Cohen to be available to provide a rebuttal if necessary, reported Reuters citing an anonymous source.

Costello’s testimony is expected to center around the payment to Daniels. He has also represented former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Why It Matters: Cohen has already testified before the grand jury and said he arranged the payment of money to Daniels on behalf of Trump.

The former lawyer asked that Trump be held accountable for his “dirty deeds” in remarks made outside the courtroom.

The Manhattan District Attorney is probing the payment of $130,000 to Daniels by Cohen. The latter was allegedly acting as a fixer for Trump.

Trump said he expects to be arrested in relation to the inquiry. He has asked his supporters to “protest, take our nation back” in comments made on Truth Social.
