For those who struggle to keep track of their friends’ and family’s birthdays, Alphabet Inc. GOOG GOOGL is working on a new way to allow people to set notifications and never forget such special days ever again.
What Happened: Google Contacts‘ new feature called “birthday notifications,” enables users to choose friends and family members whose birthdays they want to be reminded of, making it easier to keep in touch with loved ones on their special day, reported 9To5Google.

Users can avail of this feature by first adding the birth date information in the contacts information. Tap on the overflow menu in the top-right corner and go to the “Add birthday notification” option.
If someone’s birthday is coming soon, the reminder included on their contact page will also show an “Add notification” button, but for now, it has to be added manually into Google Contacts, the report noted.
The feature doesn’t allow users to turn the notifications on for all contacts at once, something that social media apps like Meta Platforms Inc.'s META Facebook offers.
