Trump Raised $1.5M After Claiming He Would Be Arrested This Week

Donald Trump raised $1.5 million in three days after he said on Saturday that he would be arrested this week.

What Happened: Trump’s fundraising efforts brought in $1.5 million in grassroots funding in the three days after he said on Truth Social that he could be arrested in a criminal matter related to payment of hush money to the porn star Stormy Daniels.

The figure was confirmed by Trump’s Campaign to Fox News on Wednesday.

Trump’s campaign sent out multiple emails and videos after Trump’s social media post on Saturday, reported Fox News.

“If you are doing poorly, as so many of you are, do not send anything. If you are doing well, which was made possible through the great policies of the Trump Administration, send your contribution,” said Trump in a campaign video.

Why It Matters: Since November, when his campaign was announced, Trump has reportedly raked in $9.5 million in fundraising. However, this amount is less than the $12 million his fundraising committee had gathered during the six weeks prior to his third presidential run.

A Manhattan jury probing the Daniels matter didn’t meet on Wednesday but is expected to meet on Thursday.
