OpenAI Makes ChatGPT Capable Of Web Browsing; Likely To Expand User Access Gradually

Microsoft Corp MSFT backed OpenAI launched plugins in ChatGPT.
OpenAI is starting with a small set of users and is planning to expand access gradually.
OpenAI hosts two plugins, a web browser, and a code interpreter. It also open-sourced the code for a knowledge base retrieval plugin to be self-hosted by any developer.

OpenAI created a web browser plugin, making it useful for retrieving information. Browsing retrieves content from the web using the Bing search API.
The browsing plugin shows websites visited and cites their sources in ChatGPT’s responses.
The open-source retrieval plugin enables ChatGPT to access personal or organizational information sources (with permission).
It allows users to obtain the most relevant document snippets from their data sources, such as files, notes, emails, or public documentation, by asking questions or expressing needs in natural language.
The retrieval plugin allows ChatGPT to search a vector content database and add the best results into the ChatGPT session.
The code interpreter is ideal for solving mathematical problems, data analysis and visualization, and converting files between formats.
Expedia, FiscalNote, Instacart, KAYAK, Klarna, Milo, OpenTable, Shopify, Slack, Speak, Wolfram, and Zapier created the first plugins.
