Elon Musk's SpaceX To Send 56 Starlink Satellites Into Orbit Today

Elon Musk's SpaceX has set its sights on March 24 for launching 56 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit, or LEO, from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida using a Falcon 9 rocket.

What Happened: SpaceX is looking to launch 56 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from on Friday at 11:33 a.m. ET. There are additional launch opportunities at 1:14 p.m. ET and 2:55 p.m. ET, the space exploration company said on its website.

“Static fire test complete – targeting Friday, March 24 at 11:33 a.m. ET for Falcon 9's launch of 56 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from SLC-40 in Florida,” SpaceX tweeted.

The rocket company has also ascertained backup opportunities on Saturday, March 25 — at 11:08 a.m. ET, 12:49 p.m. ET, and 2:30 p.m. ET — for the launch.

Assuming everything goes as intended, the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket will return to Earth and precisely land on SpaceX's droneship, "A Shortfall of Gravitas," situated off the coast of Florida, the company stated.

Last week, SpaceX completed two Falcon 9 missions — its 18th and 19th of 2023 — within four hours, drawing applause from Musk himself. Musk said that the company will deliver 80% of Earth’s payload to orbit this year earlier this week in a Twitter reply.
