A new survey revealed the U.K. lost its libido amid the mounting cost of living in the country as Europe reels under a slow economy due to Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine.
What Happened: A new nationwide survey commissioned by Hims and Hers revealed that about 30% of U.K. residents are having less sex due to the cost of living crisis, reported The Telegraph.
The data showed that about 98% of British people assume that others are having sex at least once a month. In fact, one in five adults in the country has not had sex in the past four weeks.

Alex, who had been with his girlfriend for six years, said, "You don't realize it's happening at first, it just… dwindles. A couple of months passed, then I looked around and thought… Oh."
He told the publication that they lived together and were "very happy," in fact, with their sex life. Suddenly, one sexless week turned into a fortnight, a month, then more. Alex and his partner are saving to buy a home together, he said, and as their costs spiraled, they found themselves "working hard all day, then planning our personal life and future in the evening. All these pressures and uncertainties just started to take over."
The report noted that the country had been losing its libido even before the cost of living crisis. In recent decades, three National Surveys of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles, or Natsal, have put sex lives in the U.K. under the spotlight. The 2019 analysis of Natsal data showed that frequent sex was associated with good physical and mental health, but also steady employment and higher earnings.
Another resident named Charlotte, who started major home renovations last year after her husband lost his job, told the publication, “The effects just snowball."
The 40-year-old baker from London said the price of their building materials (and groceries) rocketed. "Stress prevented me from sleeping, which made me put on weight, which prevented me from feeling sexually attractive. Lack of intimacy contributed to my stress, and so the cycle continued…"
