Late last month, the Berlin gigafactory achieved a weekly production capacity of 5000 vehicles, a year after the plant delivered the first vehicles to customers. “Big congratulations to the Tesla Germany team!!” CEO Elon Musk tweeted.
Earlier in March, it was reported that Tesla has applied to Germany’s environmental agency to expand production at the gigafactory to one million vehicles per year from 500,000 per year.
However, the company has not touched the half-million mark at the gigafactory yet. Hence, for the first expansion stage, Tesla is looking to touch 500,000 units per year, or about 10,000 cars a week, RBB 24 added.
