Tesla Inc‘s TSLA Model Y was the most-sold SUV in China last month.
What Happened: Tesla’s Model Y was the most-sold SUV in China last month with 54,937 units sold, a rise of 115.22% as compared to the 25,526 units sold in February, reported CnEVPost, citing China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data.
Model Y is seconded by BYD Co Ltd‘s BYDDF BYDDY BYD Song which sold 40,114 units. BYD Yuan Plus ranks third with 27,907 units sold in March.
However, considering sales data from January to March, Model Y is the runner-up. BYD Song sold 141,415 units in the three months, seconded by Tesla Model Y which sold 94,647 units, as per the report.

The popularity of new energy vehicles is rising in China. New Energy Vehicle sales in China summed up to 543,000 units last month, an increase of 21.9 percent year-on-year, the report said. This includes 383,000 units of battery electric vehicles, accounting for 70.5% of NEV retail sales.
Tesla sold 88,869 China-made vehicles in March- including 76,663 vehicle deliveries in China and 12,206 exports.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday that Tesla’s next factory will be in Shanghai. Construction is expected to commence later this year.
