Elon Musk's SpaceX Eyes 2 Launches Within 2 Hrs Today

Elon Musk‘s SpaceX is eyeing two launches back to back on Friday.

What Happened: SpaceX expects to launch both the ViaSat-3 Americas mission and the SES O3b mPOWER mission from Florida on Friday.

The 88-minute launch window for the SES mission will open at 5:12 p.m. ET and the 57-minute window for the ViaSat mission about two hours later at 7:29 p.m. ET. The SES mission will be launched to medium-Earth orbit by a Falcon 9 rocket and ViaSat-3 to geostationary orbit by SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket.

Why It Matters: The ViaSat-3 Americas mission was initially scheduled for launch on April 26 but was rescheduled to Thursday and then again to Friday owing to unfavorable weather.

Though SpaceX is targeting to launch SES O3b mPOWER mission on Friday, the weather conditions are only 20% favorable for liftoff, SpaceX tweeted on Thursday.

Last week, SpaceX conducted the first test launch of Starship. The rocket exploded in less than four minutes after take-off, damaging the launch pad at Starbase and raining down dust on the residents of Port Isabel, Texas.
