Tesla Trolls Back Twitter User Who Joked About Cybertruck's Gigantic Windshield Wiper

EV giant Tesla Inc TSLA gave a teasing response to a Twitter user making fun of its upcoming Cybertruck’s large windshield wiper.

What Happened: A Twitter user who goes by the username Teslaloosa shared an image of a long wind turbine blade being transported on a truck with the caption “Another Cybertruck windshield wiper arriving at Gigafactory! It’s happening, people!”

The Wikipedia Commons image is originally dated December 2015 and shows the delivery of a 58.7-meter wind turbine blade being transported to Muirhall Wind Farm, South Lanarkshire in the U.K.

Tesla responded to the joke on Thursday and said, “This is only 50% of the actual size.”

Why It Matters: The size of Cybertruck’s windshield wiper has generated curiosity multiple times. In 2021, Musk took to Twitter to respond to comments on the comically large wiper and said there was “no easy solution.”

“The wiper is what troubles me most. No easy solution. Deployable wiper that stows in the front trunk would be ideal, but complex,” Musk said.

The Cybertruck is expected to start production later this year.

Hyundai Motor Corp vendor Seoyon E-Hwa recently confirmed that it received an order of 300 billion won or $228 million for Cybertruck parts, reported Teslarati. The supply contract is for three years and involves parts used to connect the body and roof of the vehicle.

The South Korean company rented a factory in Monterrey, Mexico, for 13 billion won to produce the parts, the report added.

Unconfirmed reports circulating on social media, however, say that the company has denied reports on the contract.
