Elon Musk-led SpaceX plans to launch Haven-1, the world’s first commercial space station, into low-Earth orbit in 2025.
What Happened: California-based aerospace company Vast announced its collaboration with SpaceX to launch Haven-1 on a Falcon 9 rocket in August 2025, followed by human spaceflight missions.
Haven-1 will initially function as an independent crewed space station before being connected to a larger Vast space station currently under development.

"A commercial rocket launching a commercial spacecraft with commercial astronauts to a commercial space station is the future of low-Earth orbit, and with Vast we're taking another step toward making that future a reality," said SpaceX Senior Vice President of Commercial Business Tom Ochinero.
Vast now offers the option to reserve a stay on Vast-1, with the crew announcement coming later. Reservations are open to space agencies, astronauts, and private individuals engaged in scientific and philanthropic projects. Vast-2 is scheduled for launch in 2026.
Why It Matters: Vast aims to create opportunities for exploration and contribute to a future where billions of people thrive in space.
Its long-term vision includes developing a 100-meter-long multi-module spinning artificial gravity space station using SpaceX’s Starship transportation system.
