A $200 Bet That Pays Out $300K Hangs On The Warriors Beating The Lakers: A Look At The Insane Parlay

Zinger Key Points
  • A huge six-leg parlay only needs the Golden State Warriors to become the NBA Champions to win.
  • The Warriors now face elimination in the Western Conference Semifinals and need two wins to make it to the next round.

A key NBA Playoffs matchup is seeing huge television ratings and could have a huge payout for one bettor.

Here’s a look at the parlay that needs one more leg to hit for a huge payday.

What Happened: The 2023 NBA Playoffs feature the Los Angeles Lakers versus the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Semifinals and has NBA stars LeBron James and Steph Curry facing off against each other.

The Lakers are in the lead with three wins and the Warriors with two wins. Each game now is an elimination game for the Warriors, as the team needs to win Game 6 and Game 7 to advance to the next round.

One bettor also needs the Warriors to win two more games against the Lakers to keep a six-leg parlay alive that has already had the other five legs hit.

A bettor placed a parlay with FanDuel, a unit of Flutter Entertainment PDYPY with six picks and needs all six to win for the bet to cash out.

The $200 bet pays $303,478.56 if all six legs hit. Included in the bet were the following with their odds at the time the bet was placed:

Argentina winning the 2022 World Cup: +160

Georgia winning the 2022-2023 NCAA Football Championship: -130

Novak Djokovic winning the 2023 Australian Open: +110

The University of Connecticut making the 2023 Men’s Basketball Final Four: +230

Kansas City Chiefs winning Super Bowl LVII: +460

Golden State Warriors winning the 2022-2023 NBA Championship: +750

The bettor put the bet slip up for sale on PropSwap ahead of the Warriors' previous series with the Sacramento Kings, which went to a decisive Game 7. The bettor was asking for $35,000 but did not get any offers for that amount.

The bettor turned down an offer of $30,000 for the bet slip on May 5. A user on Twitter also noted that the bettor did not take an offer of around $11,000 from the sportsbook ahead of Game 5 in the series, which could have seen the Warriors eliminated.

What’s Next: Game 6 will be in Los Angeles, where the Warriors have already lost two games in the series. The team also struggled away from home during the regular season going 11-30.

The Lakers and Warriors game will be televised by ESPN, a unit of Walt Disney Co DIS, on Friday, May 12 at 10 p.m. ET.

Ratings have been strong for Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery Inc WBD, which have the rights to the playoff games. Game 5 in the series averaged 7.55 million viewers on TNT, which is now the most watched NBA game on cable since Game 4 of the 2019 Western Conference Finals.

Game 5 was also the most watched first- or second-round NBA Playoffs game on cable since 2012, according to Sports Media Watch.

Each of the five previous games in the Warriors and Lakers series has had at least seven million viewers and several of the games rank on the all-time list for viewership of first- and second-round games in the NBA Playoffs.

Current odds from DraftKings Inc DKNG see the Lakers as a three-point favorite against the Warriors in Game 6.

The Lakers are favored to win the series at odds of -235 compared to the odds on the Warriors to win the series at +195.

Overall odds on winning the NBA Championship for the 2022-2023 season have the Lakers at +450 and the Warriors at +1000.
