Rivian R1T Outpaces Tesla Model Y With Faster Delivery Times

EV maker Rivian Automotive Inc RIVN said that one can take delivery of its R1T truck ‘faster than ever.’

What Happened: Prospective buyers can take delivery of R1T in 14 days or less, Rivian said on Twitter on Friday.

“Our production ramp continues to climb, which means you can now take delivery of an R1T faster than ever, in some cases 14 days or less,” Rivian tweeted on its official handle with pictures of happy customers and its vehicle on unpaved roads.

However, delivery timing is also based on factors like location and build. Custom configurations will take 4-16 weeks to deliver, Rivian added.

Why It Matters: The company expects to produce 50,000 units in fiscal 2023 and increase it further in 2024. The company also sees hitting positive gross profit in 2024.

Delivery in 2 weeks or less is a shorter wait time than most EV makers. If ordered now, EV giant Tesla Inc TSLA’s Model Y, for one, is estimated to be delivered in June or July. A Model 3/X/S, however, would be delivered this month itself.
