Alphabet Inc. GOOG GOOGL CEO Sundar Pichai recently revealed why he uses Google Pixel Fold, Samsung Galaxy and even an iPhone.
What Happened: Tech YouTuber Arun Maini, more commonly known as MrWhoseTheBoss, recently sat down with Google CEO and asked him about the future of smartphones, artificial intelligence and Pixel Fold — the company’s first device in the foldable category.

However, before we dive into the heavy stuff the iconic tech duo spoke about, let’s start with something fun yet informative.
During the Rapid Fire round, Maini asked Pichai about what phone he uses and his answer will leave you in splits — although it makes sense too. “Right now, it’s the Pixel 7 Pro, but I am testing. I use everything. From Samsung Galaxy to the new Pixel Fold to the iPhone.”
Pichai also revealed that, on average, he prefers “dark mode” but sometimes switches back to “light mode.” Additionally, the Google CEO shared his preference between wired and wireless charging. Unsurprisingly he finds wireless charging “more convenient.”
Now, back to the heavy stuff.
When Maini asked “why” Google launched the Foldable phone, Pichai said, “We are trying to push the frontier of what’s possible” adding, “Giving people more functionality in the device they are carrying is something we are trying to do.”
Pichai admitted that while they have launched Pixel Fold, there’s much to do in the category. “This is for people who want to live on ‘that’ future a bit.”
When asked about the future of smartphones and AI’s role, he stated, “AI will make it so much more natural and intuitive to interact, which isn’t today.”
Pichai disagreed that AR glasses would replace smartphones, saying, “I don’t think so. I think you will have a primary computing device and increasingly, phones are doing that for people. What we are doing with Fold is pushing the boundaries of what a phone can be.”
Watch the complete interview, including the part when Maini asked him about the petition to make him the voice of Google Assistant.
At the time of writing, the video had been viewed by more than 2.1 million people.
