VinFast Revs Up: VF 8 Electric SUV Ready To Roll Out In Canada Next Month

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast on Wednesday said that it would commence delivery of its VF 8 SUV to customers in Canada in June.

What Happened: VinFast has received all necessary certifications for selling its VF 8 in Canada and it will commence deliveries in June, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

781 Vinfast VF 8 vehicles have arrived in Canada, the company said. The vehicles were part of the 1,879 vehicles shipped to North America on April 16 of which 1,098 are for sale in the U.S.

The price tag on the car’s VF 8 eco trim would start at C$53,600 in Canada and VF 8 Plus at C$59,200.

Why It Matters: Last week, VinFast announced a SPAC merger with Black Spade Acquisition Co BSAQ. The Vietnamese EV maker had previously filed for an IPO in the U.S.

The merger values the company at an enterprise value of $27 billion, making it the third-largest SPAC merger in history as per SPAC expert Julian Klymochko. The merger is expected to close in the second half of this year.

VinFast entered the U.S. market with the delivery of 45 VF 8 City Edition SUVs in March. It was also the EV maker’s first sale outside Vietnam.
