In an attempt to criticize Florida Governor's Ron DeSantis chaotic entry into Republican primary nominations, Donald Trump‘s son unintentionally insulted his father instead.
What Happened: Donald Trump Jr., who wanted to take a jab at DeSantis after Florida declared his candidacy in a Twitter launch marred by technical issues, ended up swapping his father's name with that of his 2024 opponent.
The incident happened when Trump’s eldest son ranted about DeSantis’ Twitter Spaces campaign launch, which he called a “Disaster.” Donald Jr. criticized DeSantis for what he perceived as "basically reading, like, an op-ed what he was going to do."
In a somewhat ironic twist, just moments into his speech criticizing DeSantis’ “failure to launch,” Donald Jr. unintentionally seemed to confuse his own words. "Once you actually put out the facts, I think a different image is going to emerge… Trump has the charisma of a mortician and the energy that makes Jeb Bush look an Olympian."
He stopped briefly after the mixup but continued his criticism of DeSantis, accusing him of being a flip-flopper who continues to dodge questions surrounding his stance on the Ukraine war.
The ex-president's son said his father's opponent has a "nasal and effeminate voice," claiming "it was that bad."
