The stock market is closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29. It is a federal holiday dedicated to honoring those in the U.S. military who died in service.
Trading activities on the NYSE and Nasdaq paused at 4 p.m. ET on Friday, May 26, and will resume on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Many commercial banks and other financial entities will also remain closed or operate with adjusted hours on Memorial Day.
Additionally, the U.S. bond market closed earlier on Friday, at 2 p.m., and will remain closed on Memorial Day.
Here are the rest of the holidays the market recognizes in 2023:
- Juneteenth: June 19
- Independence Day: July 4
- Labor Day: Sept. 4
- Thanksgiving Day: Nov. 23
- Christmas Day: Dec. 25
