Donald Trump's Lawyers Begin To Turn On Each Other And Russian-Born Advisor: 'He's A Complete Psycho'

Zinger Key Points
  • Infighting envelops Donald Trump's legal team, many who see advisor Boris Epshteyn as a road block.
  • “He’s got daddy issues, and Trump is his daddy," one source tells The Daily Beast.

Former President Donald Trump’s network has become well known for its battles between civilization and savagery, with his aides, friends, colleagues and even his children well-versed in fighting for supremacy while struggling between being moral versus the need to satisfy their personal desires.

Partially behind-closed-doors infighting has enveloped Trump’s legal team, according to a report from The Daily Beast, with the 45th president’s lawyers clashing with each other. The atmosphere is made more hostile by the fact Trump is embroiled in multiple lawsuits, was formally charged earlier this year and may be facing three more indictments over the coming days.

At the center of the conflict is Boris Epshteyn, a close advisor to Trump, who acts as an intermediary, according to some sources who spoke to the publication.

“Everybody hates him. He’s a toxic loser. He’s a complete psycho,” said one source, referring to the Russian-born advisor, who has maintained a position in Trump’s inner circle in the lead-up to the 2024 election.

The Conflict: Epshteyn, who refers to himself as “in-house counsel,” according to The Daily Beast, is the reason Tim Parlatore, one of Trump’s lawyers in the classified documents case, recently quit. “Boris pissed off all the Florida lawyers. People are dropping like flies,” the source told the publication, adding “He’s got daddy issues, and Trump is his daddy.”

The departure came following a meeting at Mar-a-Lago in April, where several of Trump’s legal representatives said they would depart if Epshteyn stayed. While four of the publication’s sources agreed that Epshteyn blocked communication between Trump and his defense attorneys, one source claimed the former president's lawyers are able to obtain Trump’s ear, although the person agreed Epstheyn screens and coordinates Trump’s communications.

What's More: While Epshteyn appears to be the mascot, or at least the scapegoat, for Trump’s legal team’s infighting, the lawyers have many other issues to contend with, as they work in separate teams to represent the former president in his myriad of legal troubles.

With so many court cases, and the 2024 election cycle underway, Trump’s lawyers must be careful not to double book his court appearances and some teams are worried other teams may stumble in their cases, causing issues for other lawyers trying to effectively represent the former reality TV host.

Missteps by some of Trump’s lawyers include when Alina Habba said she couldn’t find documents at Mar-a-Lago relevant to Trump’s fraud case that were later found in his office by the FBI, have also caused other lawyers representing the former president to question her competency, according to the publication.

Some of Trump’s lawyers also see each other as potential liabilities and worry their future careers could be on the line, with one of Trump’s attorneys telling The Daily Beast they are considering departing before things get messier.
