It reduces fossil fuel dependence and can significantly reduce battery waste, which is a significant issue because of the toxic components in batteries.
Traditional energy storage systems rely on lithium-ion batteries, which lose their effectiveness over time. When these batteries reach the end of their useful life in electric vehicles, they are either recycled or discarded.
Reducing Battery Waste
B2U recognized the potential for used battery packs and devised a groundbreaking way to repurpose them through integration with solar energy systems. The company's infrastructure uses advanced algorithms and software to optimize and manage the performance of repurposed batteries to extend their life and efficiency. Repurposing EV battery packs significantly reduces electronic waste and contributes to a more sustainable economy. The company takes batteries from a range of EV companies, including Tesla Inc., Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. and Honda Motor Co. Ltd. among others. It operates its facility outside of the Southern California desert city of Lancaster where it racks together batteries and connects them to solar panels. When the sun sets, the batteries discharge electricity into the grid, providing a revenue stream for B2U.
