Elon Musk May Soon Limit The Number Of DMs You Can Send Daily — Hint: Twitter Blue

Elon Musk has been making waves again on social media after reports circulated that Twitter is considering limiting the number of direct messages users can send daily.

What Happened: In a recent development that has sent ripples through the Twitterverse, app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi revealed that the microblogging site is working on implementing a cap on the number of daily DMs users can send, a move speculated to be connected to its paid subscription serviceTwitter Blue.

According to Paluzzi, Currently set at 500 DMs per day, this limit is expected to be further reduced.

As Musk continues to explore new avenues for monetization for Twitter, the implications of this DM limitation have sparked interest and speculation among netizens worldwide.

Users have also started drawing comparisons between Twitter and Microsoft Corp’s LinkedIn, which asks people to subscribe to its Premium model to message selected accounts on the platform.

Here’s how users reacted to these reports:

Why It’s Important: In November 2022, Musk officially announced the much-hyped subscription service for Twitter verification, allowing users to get verified blue ticks by paying $8 monthly through the web and $11 monthly through iOS.

Earlier this year, in April, the tech billionaire who acquired Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion finally removed legacy Blue checks from users’ accounts.

Musk is currently paying for the Twitter subscription for a few personalities, including LeBron James and Stephen King, who both have vehemently opposed paying the site to get blue check marks.

Taylor Swift and Rihanna are among the users paying Musk $8 per month to keep their blue badge
