Trump Vows To Go After Biden Family If Re-Elected In 2024: 'Now That The Seal Is Broken...'

Former President Donald Trump on Monday said if he were to be reelected to the White House, he would consider appointing a special prosecutor to target President Joe Biden and his family.

What Happened: As Trump arrived in Miami to be arraigned on Tuesday, the ex-president took to his social media platform Truth Social to express his dismay amid claims of a politically motivated federal indictment.

In a brazen pledge to use the levers of government to target political rivals, Trump wrote on Truth Social, "Now that the ‘seal' is broken, in addition to closing the border & removing all of the ‘criminal' elements that have illegally invaded our country, making America energy independent & even dominant again, & immediately ending the war between Russia & Ukraine, I will appoint a real special ‘prosecutor' to go after the most corrupt president in the history of the USA, Joe Biden, the entire Biden crime family, & all others involved with the destruction of our elections, borders, & country itself!"

Trump's criticism of Biden comes days after the Justice Department revealed a 37-count indictment, including 31 counts under the Espionage Act, which stemmed from Trump’s failure to return classified materials he possessed when he departed the White House.

Why It Matters: Trump is the first former U.S. president to face federal charges. The former president has maintained his innocence and called the indictment “a disgrace.”

Many Republicans also supported Trump and denounced the investigation, calling it politically charged.

Trump is a frontrunner in the GOP presidential nomination race for the 2024 White House run. Despite various legal challenges Trump faces, he said he would not withdraw his name from the presidential race.

The former U.S. leader faces fines of up to $9.25 million and up to 400 years of prison time if charges are proved against him.
