President Joe Biden experienced an embarrassing blunder during an environmental event in Washington on Wednesday, igniting another debate concerning the 80-year-old leader’s age, who is seeking a second term as president.
What Happened: While addressing the League of Conservation Voters’ annual Capital Dinner in Washington on Wednesday, Biden unintentionally renamed his signature initiative ‘Build Back Better’, eliciting huge laughter from the audience.

“The Build Back Biden – Build Back Better and we realize that got confusing so now we don’t call it that – what we call it is — here’s the bottom line, look, we’re the ones that caused the problem,” Biden said as he immediately corrected his words.
"We have plans to build a railroad from the Pacific all the way across the Indian Ocean. We have plans to build in … in Angola one of the largest solar plants in the world. I can go on, but I'm not. I'm going off-script. I'm going to get in trouble," he added.
Biden’s embarrassing moment came just days after the White House said that the president had undergone a root canal and was experiencing pain. As a result, he had to cancel several speaking engagements earlier in the week.
Why It Matters: The veteran Democrat is already the oldest-ever president and would be 86 when he stepped down if he wins. The new gaffe once again sparked concerns about the president's age, which is a matter of overwhelming concern for voters – and one his Republican opponent will weaponize in the upcoming elections.

The president earlier addressed concerns about his age after many questioned his re-election bid for the 2024 presidential votes. "I respect them taking a hard look at it. I'd take a hard look at it as well – I took a hard look at it before I decided to run," he said.
