Virgin Galactic launched its first commercial spaceflight, "Galactic 01,” on Thursday. The VMS Eve took off around 10:30 a.m. ET carrying the VSS Unity spacecraft. The spacecraft is carrying the crew and four passengers who will conduct 13 experiments studying microgravity, cosmic radiation data and fluid dynamics during the 90-minute flight.
Virgin Galactic shares have been volatile over the last month, surging on the company's commercial spaceflight announcement before pulling back on an at-the-market stock offering of $400 million.
