AOC Says DeSantis 'Can't Out-Trump' Trump: 'Made Some Very Large, Critical Errors'

In a recent episode of “Inside with Jen Psaki”, New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) expressed her views on the ongoing GOP presidential race, singling out one candidate for making “critical” errors, Fox News reports.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, according to AOC, is attempting to emulate former President Donald Trump, a strategy she believes is flawed. “You can't out-Trump Trump, that's what he's trying to do,” she stated.

“I think that Governor DeSantis has made some very large, critical errors,” she said.

DeSantis’ Policies: A Double-Edged Sword?

DeSantis has been vocal about his stance that Florida is where “woke goes to die”, and has enacted legislation banning divisive political ideologies such as critical race theory and transgender medical interventions for minors. While these actions have been applauded by some, AOC believes they represent a “profound political miscalculation, and then overcompensation.”

She further argued that DeSantis’ attempts to appeal to the base are futile as “that base belongs to Donald Trump.” In her view, DeSantis has sacrificed his potential edge of appearing more rational than Trump.
