Jamie Raskin Alleges GOP Oversight Chair May Have Been 'Compromised In A Really Serious Way'

In a recent interview, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) went after Rep. James Comer (R-KY), who serves as the House Oversight Chair, for his association with Gal Luft, a suspected Chinese foreign agent and is believed to be a whistleblower with allegations against President Joe Biden.

What Happened: Raskin, in an interview with MSNBC's Jen Psaki, said a potential foreign agent may have compromised the GOP politician Comer.

Raskin, who serves on the Oversight Committee as the ranking Democratic member, told the host, "I'm just concerned that the House Oversight Committee, which has a very proud history with Congressman Waxman as chair, the great Elijah Cummings of Maryland as chair, is suddenly being compromised in a really serious way."

"Our legitimacy is being eroded by the tactics adopted by Chairman Comer," he added. "There are real issues that are confronting our people and they're off on this wild goose chase related to Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, and their main witnesses are people who are fleeing justice in America."

Raskin's comments came in response to Psaki’s question, "how concerned are you of that James Comer, the chairman of the committee, was knowingly, unknowingly working with, co-opted by a foreign agent."

For several months, Republicans on the committee, including Comer, have been promoting Luft as a significant witness in the corruption investigation involving President Biden’s family and their business activities.

On Monday, the Southern District of New York revealed unsealed indictments against Luft, charging him with being an unregistered foreign agent for China and an international arms dealer.
