The entertainment industry is reeling from the SAG-AFTRA strike of both the actors and writers which has not occurred in more than 60 years. The strike threatens to disrupt the production and distribution capabilities of the entire entertainment industry.
According to a report from Variety, Bob Iger, CEO of Walt Disney Co. expressed his concerns about the strikes during an interview on CNBC's "Squawk Box". He stated that the unions' expectations were unrealistic, and their actions were adding to the current challenges within the industry.
Disney also faces an ongoing dispute with Governor DeSantis and the state of Florida. On Friday, Disney asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by DeSantis focused on ending the company’s self-governing control over its theme park.
According to data from Benzinga Pro, DIS is trading on higher than average volume with more than 14.5 million shares traded compared to its 100-day average of 13.17 million shares.
