Planning To Buy iPhone 15? You Will Have To Wait Longer As Analyst Predicts Launch Delay

Apple Inc.'s AAPL highly anticipated iPhone 15 launch could be delayed by a few weeks to October, according to a Bank of America analyst. This could impact Apple's sales in the September quarter and push it back to the December quarter, while users may have to wait longer to upgrade to the iPhone 15.

What Happened: The iPhone 15 launch has been delayed by a "few weeks", according to Wamsi Mohan, a global securities analyst at Bank of America. In a note seen by Barrons, Mohan says that the prediction is based on his supply chain checks.

The iPhone 15 series is expected to launch in September alongside the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. Apple is also expected to roll out the final versions of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS Sonoma at its September event.

Shipments Could Be Delayed: While Mohan's supply chain checks and his prediction pour cold water on the iPhone 15 launch in September, it is possible that Apple could announce the iPhone 15 in its September event, with shipments beginning in October.

Although Mohan is the only analyst predicting a delayed iPhone 15 launch, he had previously called the iPhone 12 launch delay as well, which proved correct.

Back in 2020, shipments of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro began in October, while the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max shipments began in November. This resulted from the supply chain shocks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It remains to be seen if Mohan's prediction turns out to be accurate. Updates from other analysts will be a key monitorable, too, since a delay would impact Apple's financials for the September quarter.
