Former President Donald Trump has vowed to terminate President Joe Biden‘s electric vehicle (EV) policies, which he referred to as “Green New Deal atrocities,” on his first day if he is re-elected, Politico reports.
What Happened: Trump’s comments were made in response to Biden’s aggressive push for EVs, which includes a number of policies beyond emissions rules. Trump argued that Biden’s policies are detrimental to the American auto industry and auto workers.
"If Biden's assault is not stopped, American auto production will be totally dead. That's why I am going to terminate these Green New Deal atrocities on Day One," he said.

Trump’s plans to leverage auto workers’ fears about electric vehicles into an electoral advantage, particularly in Rust Belt states. He also urged the United Auto Workers (UAW) union to endorse him. However, the Union expressed in May that it would not endorse any presidential candidate ahead of the elections in 2024.
Despite Trump’s criticism, Biden’s administration continues to push for EVs, citing the need for stricter emissions standards and the potential benefits of EV technology.
