Volkswagen To Debut Its Festival-Ready, Multicolored Glamper Van On Friday

A one-off multi-colored Glamper Van based on Volkswagen‘s VWAGY ID.Buzz Cargo will debut at PennFest 2023 in Buckinghamshire on Friday.

What Happened: The cargo van, designed for festival-goers, is prepped with Instagram-ready photo booths with props, lighting, and a camera with a makeover filter. Props include decorative flowers, neon signs, fluffy cushions, seating, and artificial plants.

“Following the success of last year's Pamper Van, Volkswagen is pleased to be once again helping festival-goers celebrate in style with the new Glamper Van,” Brand and Performance Marketing Manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Laura Bignall said.

Pamper Van was a one-off model based on the Volkswagen Multivan revealed at the Cornbury Festival last year in Oxfordshire. It, too, offered an Instagram-ready photobooth, but unlike the pamper van from a year ago, the Glamper is a brighter design.

The all-electric ID Buzz will also be displayed at the two-day music festival, which will kickstart on Friday. Noel Gallagher, Johnny Marr, Bad Manners, Bastille, and Ellis Dee are among the few lined up to perform at the festival.

Why It Matters: The ID.Buzz Cargo transporter was launched in May 2022 and is inspired by the Volkswagen T1 microbus or ‘hippie van’ from the 1950s. It is priced between £48,421.00 and £53,521.00.

“An icon returns!” the automaker said in a statement during launch. “Like the first 1950 Bus, the new models are cleanly and functionally designed while at the same time evoking a number of emotions,” it added.

However, the vehicle is yet to start delivery in the U.S. The automaker estimates the first ID. Buzz vehicle deliveries in America to start in 2024.
