Russia Warns Poland Any Aggression Against Belarus Is Attack On Moscow: 'Will Respond Using All Means At Our Disposal'

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Moscow will use “all means at its disposal” to defend Belarus against any potential aggression from Poland and other EU countries.

This follows concerns raised about the deployment of Russian paramilitaries near their borders, The Guardian reports.

Russian Paramilitaries Near Poland

Russian mercenaries from the Wagner group have begun training sessions for Belarusian troops at the Bretsky training centre in western Belarus, just six miles from a border crossing with Poland. This has led to heightened tensions, with Poland moving troops towards the east in response to the Wagner group’s presence.

Putin’s Warning

In a meeting of his security council, Putin claimed without evidence that Poland was seeking to invade Belarus, a Russian ally.

Putin stated, “Unleashing aggression against Belarus would mean aggression against the Russian Federation. And we will respond to it using all means at our disposal.”

During his speech, Putin also mentioned that the western part of Poland was presented as a gift from Soviet leader Joseph Stalin to the country. He further asserted that Russia would make sure the Poles do not forget about this historical fact, Reuters reported.
