In a recent interview, Marc Andreessen, co-founder of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, shared his unique approach to preparing his son for a future dominated by artificial intelligence.
What Happened: Andreessen has been using OpenAI’s language model, ChatGPT, as a tool for his son’s education, Fortune reports.
Speaking at the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Andreessen explained his son is growing up with ChatGPT after he set his son up with the language model on his laptop.
"The A.I. that my 8-year-old is gonna have by the time he's 20, it's gonna have had 12 year of experience with him," Andreessen said.
"And so it will have grown up with him. It will know everything he's ever done. It will know everything he ever did well. It will know everything he did that took real effort. It will know what he's good at. It will know what he's not good at. It'll know how to teach him. It'll know how to correct for whatever limitations he has. It'll know how to maximize his strengths. It'll know what he wants."
He believes that it is crucial for the younger generation to adapt to AI from an early age.

Why It Matters: Andreessen’s perspective on AI is more optimistic than many critics who fear that A.I. poses a threat to humanity. He recently penned a widely-discussed manifesto arguing that A.I. will not destroy humanity, but instead, significantly improve the world.
In a conversation on the Lex Fridman Podcast, Andreessen emphasized that AI dramatically enhances our ability to learn and produce. He encouraged young listeners to leverage this to become “hyper-productive people.”
