Now, if you are wondering how the Galaxy Z Flip 5 stacks up against its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the new Motorola Razr+, we have you covered.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 vs Galaxy Z Flip 4: The Galaxy Z Flip 5 delivers on many fronts against its predecessor – from the cover display to the all-important hinge, Samsung has made some important refinements and upgrades with the Flip 5.

For starters, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 sports a much bigger 3.4-inch cover display – notably bigger than the Flip 4's 1.9-inches. Samsung has worked on not just the hardware but the software, too – there are 13 customized widgets for the Flip 5's cover display.
Whether you want to check the weather, stocks, or messages with WhatsApp, Samsung has finally made the cover display useful with its custom widgets and limited support for select third-party apps.
Another major change is the hinge – Samsung has used a new hinge that eliminates almost all the gap, making the phone appear less bulky. It also reduces the crease's prominence, which is otherwise a distraction.
Samsung has also used the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset in the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which should bump up the performance compared to the Flip 4.
Other hardware features remain unchanged. While the Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at $999, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is available starting at $899.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 vs Motorola Razr+: The Galaxy Z Flip 5's primary competition this year is not its predecessor but the new Motorola Razr+. Instead of relying on just the nostalgia of the Razr brand, Motorola has turned up the heat this year with the Razr+, featuring a larger internal and cover display and better software.
For starters, the Razr+ has a slightly larger 3.6-inch cover display while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a 3.4-incher. Motorola also offers compatibility with all apps out of the box on the cover display, while Samsung currently supports only 13 widgets, and users will need to use a workaround to run other apps.
Although Samsung got it right with the bigger cover display, making apps compatible with it out of the box would have further reduced the need to flip the phone open.
Apart from this, the Razr+ also has a slightly bigger main display, at 6.9 inches versus the Flip 5's 6.7 inches. This is a minor bump, but Motorola has a small advantage nonetheless.
The Flip 5 steals a march over the Razr+ with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, while the Razr+ has to contend with the slightly less efficient Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. While performance gains are not massive, the newer Gen 2 chipset is more efficient. With the small batteries in both phones, this makes a notable difference.
The Razr+ has a 3,800mAh battery, while the Flip 5 has a 3,700mAh battery. The Razr+ also supports faster 30W wired charging compared to Flip 5's 25W rated speed. Interestingly, the Razr+ has a disappointing 5W wireless charging speed, significantly lower than the Flip 5's 15W speed.
Tougher Competition: On the whole, the race between the Razr+ and the Flip 5 is neck-to-neck. Samsung has done well to cover a lot of ground since the Flip 4, but it still won't be as easy as it has been so far now that Motorola has come a long way.
